Hit up the view yesterday. Fished a drop shot rig with garlic scented finesse worms and did a number on the small smallies. I did land a few over 12 but nothing bigger than 14. Once again I caught several largemouths in the 12 inch range. I’m am so excited for the fish to get big and eat all of the feed out of the lake. When that happens the catching is going to get good. Most exciting part of the day came when I was realing a 12" smallie off the bottom and a freight train hit it. Ended up reeling in a 40" plus muskie. The thing actually let go of the smallmouth once then came back and grabbed it again. What a blast!!! Once I got my hand around his tail he dropped the smallie and swam off. I couldn’t believe the damage he did to the bass. He almost cut it in half and he completely ripped the tail off. It was dead by the time I got the muskie in.
Fishjon
wow what an experience
I had a similar thing happen at newton while I was reeling in a perch.
Cool story! Thanks for sharing.
Without a picture…
Well I believe ya picture or not. I guess I’m just a sucker. Those big muskies have been pretty hard to come by for me too. I’ve caught a semi load of 33/34 inchers, but 35 is still my biggest.
Did it happen like it did with Chugg? Click on the video clip.
i took that chugg vid.. had several reports from other people that it continues to happen, tigers are opportunist feeders its one of the easiest moments to catch a good meal that in a normal musky hunt. The bass is thrashing and vulnerable. Its just a guess(theory), thats what we think is happening Not to mention at least fifty percent of the bass even large bass have thrash marks that match a tigers jaw marks.
Yea for sure. I caught a real big male smallie out of there a couple of years ago and he was kind of growing mishapen from the great big bite marks across his back and middle.
Welcome to the site Setthehook. Great video clip, were you using a cell phone or a camcorder? WH2
