Favorite Lure

Ya tasmanian devils kill em. Surprised no one has mentioned the foxy

Easy answer. 1/16 oz. black maribou jig.

Where are you buying the Tasmanian Devils at , what colors do you recomend .

Mine are Dynamic lures. They even sponsor this site. Look at the banner on top. Can any one that lives in Idaho find them here? What a waste. Oh well, they help keep the site going..

Idaho

Panther Martin, yellow body w/ red dots, silver blade
Classic red/white Mepps #1

Black with red dots Panther Martin, if you’ve never tried one you won’t be disappointed.

I just checked out the Panther Martin web site . 9 new products for 2014 . One is a hammered blade . Another is called a Tail Wagger . I was looking for the black and red one you mentioned .

I went on Amazon and bought a Trout pack of Tasmanian Devils to try this spring . I will try almost anything .

1/8 ounce whistler jig tipped with a live minnow, unless I’m in Idaho… then tipped with a GULP minnow… [;)]

Sportman’s Warehouse and Cabelas carries them.

I don’t fish all that much with lures but I’ll take a silver Jakes. Works on lakes and very productive in saltwater as well.

“Flicker shad”, works great on walleye, wiper, catfish, bass, and trout. They come in many different color schemes and have great action at both slow and fast speeds. [fishin]

[bobscared]Packfan , what size and color for trout ? .

I buy them at Sportsmans. And the Frog color or striped pink tasmanians. Try rigging them backwards

Size 5 or 6, two of my favorites are the one that looks like a rainbow trout the other has a gold top and light colored bottom with a red horizontal stripe but I have caught them on almost every color they have including the green. The only thing I don’t like about them is that that the hooks bend pretty easy especially on wipers which fight pretty hard. Give them a try I think you will like them. I sometimes troll pretty fast and they track good even up to speeds of 4 to 5 MPH.

I have bought several of the lures you have recommended . Now if I could just get the wind to go a way , so I could try them . I bought 3 of the Tasmanian Devils and want to see if they work . Just looking at them , you wonder . Why would a fish bite this ? Did I mention I am sick of the WIND .

My favorite lure is the Brad’s Cut Plug Herring in Black Jack color. It comes in a regular and a mini size. The lure opens so you can pack the inside with herring, anchovy, or oil-packed light tuna. It has brought about an amazing improvement in our king fishing on the coast. It comes with a sponge that fits in the cavity in case you want to just use a scent. There are slits along the side to allow the scent to trail the trolling lure. I know this might not pertain to most Idaho fishing, but in a way it does. They have had great success with steelhead and salmon on the Columbia and lower Snake with these. I will be trying it out on land-locked salmon at CdA this May. I might also have to try it out on macs. Mike

Mike it sounds like they would work for lake trout . Maybe Palasades or Bear Lake ?

Its so hard to pick just one. My favorite growing up was Red/White mepps for streams, rivers and small mountain lakes. But a frog flat fish for trolling. Now for mountain lakes were there is mainly brook trout, I would want castmasters over mepps.

I love red and white mepps in shallow water . They are light and easy to keep off the bottom .

Oh man I love those Tasmanians!! I almost forgot about them and then I went to the ISE here in Salt Lake and bought three of them for $10! I can’t wait to start using them again, they ALWAYS produce.
