F gorge 8-30 and 31

Camped at Lucerne. 8-30 Fished the cliffs North of Swim Beach, Pipeline area, and cliffs South of Swim Beach/Daggett Co Boat Dock from 0730 to 1300. First fish did not bite until around 0900. Wind started coming up after we went back in and ate lunch so did not go back out when it died down at about 7:00 p.m. Only caught a couple of baby Macs the biggest one about 19". Friends that were out in another boat did about the same but also caught 1 small koke and put it back too.

8-31 got out @ 0830 and intended on going up towards buckboard and working our way back. Weather was quite unsettled and getting worse so we stayed around the pipeline and got up next to the various cliffs that kept the wind effect managable for trolling. Picked up two more small macks, no kokes. Friends went out and picked up a Mack that was 26" don’t know the weight though and they put it back. Also wanted to try out some jigging but the weather went to heck for the rest of the time.

Fished using a variety of RMT’s dodgers, spoons, and squids. Also tried tipping with nitecrawler and the berkley worms in pink and chart. Caught all the fish when I added the pink worms.

Pretty new to F gorge’s water and is obvious that I need to spend more time on the lake in better weather.

Thinking about going back up in a couple of weeks. If not, will go to Strawberry.

Great time even though there were alot of boats.

Boat parade and fireworks were quite fun on Saturday night.

Sounds good. So how did the water temp change with all the weather, it must have been quite cool at night?

Did not go out on Monday so I did not get a read on the water temp. the air temp dropped at least 20 degrees from Friday night/ Saturday day and the wind was pretty ferocious.

Water was 65 degrees this morning, and 68 this afternoon, on the surface, in Linwood.

Good update. If I don’t get to the Gorge soon I am going to breakdown. I just don’t know what it is about that place. You come once, and never want to leave.

So what is up with Saturday ?
