End-of-the-month Echo

Dug in at 7:30am. 13-deg, but no wind. Got 9 fat perch from 8-10am over 31’, then they slowed down. As many 5-7"ers in between. About a dozen of us fishing west & south out from the ramp, and another dozen groups in the NE quadrant by the dam. Moved out to the 42-47’ range around 10:30 and got another dozen nice ones. No feeding frenzy, just one here, one there, along with an equal # of dinks. Best rig all morning was a sagging drop-shot with an eyeball on a mosquito hook — instead of keeping the line tight to the weight, I let the bait sag down to the point where my line looked as tho there was nothing on it. The fish wanted that weightless eyeball barely off the bottom. Got a couple on Hali’s and tungstens with perch slivers, but those light biters sucked that weightless eyeball in & were hooked. A cold wind came up around 11-ish, so walked off the ice 30-min later.. Looked like the area out from new state park also had its share of anglers this morning.

Sounds like you did better than me. Definitely not a fast bite whatsoever. If a school comes thru, it can be good, but normally is onesies and twosies.

Hey Bob, why are you done for the year? thought the waterfowl season just ended, I figured you’d just be getting started for the year… Later Jeff

Best of luck. I expect you will suprise us all and be back on the water way before your Doc says so. We’ll I guess that would not really suprise us.

You’ll do great with with the reverse shoulder. Had mine done one year ago on January 30. By April I was pretty much back to normal and trying to rebuild muscle that I lost by minimizing use of my right arm for about 2 years. One year down and I can’t tell anything was done. Less range of motion when reaching behind me, but that is a limitation of a reverse shoulder replacement that was as bad as mine was to begin with. I’d trade that any day for absolutely no more pain.
