I’ve become a regular reader of Fly Fishing Food hosted by our local fly fishing celebrities, Clark “Cheech” Pierce and Curtis Fry. Over Christmas I tied some of Cheech’s “El Sculpito” streamers.
I’m no artesian fly tier, but they were fun to create and I think will be even more fun to fish. I used some different dubbing mixes for the heads, which is why they don’t all look the same. A great project during the cold weeks of January.

Great pattern. I’ve caught my biggest brown to date on the el sculpito.
And your fly tying skills are FAR better than mine.

I should mention that a cheap way to add some UV flash to a fly is with a common yellow highlighter (I have a Sharpie Accent). I hold the fly under a UV light and then get creative adding highlights and hot spots.
Works better and cheaper than the UV spray stuff that goes for $20 a bottle.

Nice tie brotha. Now we need to set up a tying room for our down times up north. With your creations and my creations, I think we are going to be catching some fishies. Getting excited.
