Fished Echo on Sunday with a friend off of the boat ramp. Started off in 30’ water and caught a couple nice ranbows and a 20" brown.
Moved in closer to shore and set up in 20’ of water and hooked a few more rainbows. Then came the fight of the afternoon while lowering my ice cutter to the depths it was hit by a large fish and immediately started taking out drag. Everytime I brought the fish near the surface it would take off and run. Well this went on for a little while and then GONE. the fish somehow unhooked its self. I was pissed but that is the way it goes. Total for the day 5 bows and 1 brown, we probably lost as many. It was a beautifull day and we had the whole north end of the lake to ourselves. The ice is plenty thick and the edges were not to bad.
Thanks for posting your report PE, sure would have been nice to at least see that fish that got away[unsure]. I had heard the edges were getting soft later in the day at Echo, did you have any problem getting off the ice? WH2
We had no problem getting off the ice. If the lake dosen’t rise too much and it stays cold at night the ice should last a bit longer.
