went up to east canyon to try for some more smallies since it was so good 2 weeks ago. got up there at about 8 am and me and my dad fished from our float tubes. it ended up being a pretty good day on the lake with great weather. we ended up taking home 17 crappie in the 8 to 10 inch range, not huge but good eating. i landed 15 smallies and kept six small ones for the pan. i also caught a big ole rainbow back in my crappie cove in about 1 foot of water on a little jig tipped with a worm under a float. the bite wasnt all that hot i really had to work for my bites yesterday. the bite died at about 11 30 AM.

Looks like you had a great time with your dad, thats the best way to spend time on fathers day, in my opinion. Im sure it was a delicious Lunch/Dinner! Nice report!
sounds like a fun time i might have to find some bass and crappie up there one day. What were you guys using for the crappie if its fine to share?
i just use a pencil bobber with about 6 feet of leader with a wieghtless nightcrawler, and i just drift it by submerged brush, once u find one you will find a good school.

you know i think they have finished spawing but are still feeding in the shallows for a bit, id say 2 weeks max and they will be going a little deeper or suspending. about 3 to4 weeks ago they were everywhere in the brush like christmas ornaments and i would sight fish them with a jig cause they were on there beds and anything that came in there area was eaten, the funny thing about this year is that i got them in places on the lake ive never caught em before. so maybe they are getting better numbers cause they arent as big as last years slabs.
so there are more just not as much size this year. but they are some of the best tasting crappie around here, a nice deep cold lake produces good eaters.
