Poor fishing trip today. I will blame it on the guide (me). Gary (Biofisher) wanted to catch a striper if we could get one to bite, so we spent the major part of the 4 hours that we were on the lake casting and retrieving. My son-in-law from Louisiana and my daughter are in for a couple of days, so I took Ralph along for the ride. These Louisiana boys don't like the cold any more than Bassert does. emoPoke

We took about a 30 minute respite and went to an off shore structure where we caught the only fish that we caught today. I landed 1 black nosed crappie, 1 little black crappie, Biofisher landed 1 little black crappie, and Ralph landed a small spotted bass. That's it.

The wind was so bad on the off shore place that we decided to go back to the park area where we were at least out of the wind. I have never seen so much bait in all of my life. We were sitting in 22 feet of water and the bait was so thick that my depth finder said that we were in 4 to 6 feet of water most of the time. We snagged 2" threadfin shad several times, but alas, no game fish. I didn't even get one of my pets to bite either.

Better days are coming. Water temp was 45 when we started this AM and it ended up about 48 at 3:00 PM. We saw Labman and Nautica Man, but they were doing just as badly as we were. emoBigsmile emoGeezer
