Trolled Willard today with Stan55. We didn’t find Shane’s rod but did get 15 walleye and 3 wiper (3 walleye and 3 wiper released). These are the 6 I brought home. Fun

Good times. Willard eyes are really chunky. Not many boats out there and weather was great. Caught majority of our fish on lime green bouncer setup trolling around 1.8 to 2 mph. Eyes were not shy about hitting rigs.

When you say “bottom bouncer” are you actually trolling crawler harnesses off the bottom bouncers? I use bottom bouncers with a 6’ leader to troll lures off planer boards when the lure doesn’t dive deep enough. I have also seen bottom bouncers used with koke gear (dodger and squid/spoon/fly. Thanks.

I haven’t really given up on kokanee fishing. Just followed the Willard and DC opportunities that presented. It’s still trolling just a different species. Stan and I thought about Willard on Friday but decided to go back to Jordanelle. Lots of good options. See my DC post from today on the other board.

Yup with worm harnesses but we cut the leader down to 18-24” put them back 100+’ and hall butt, this time of year the fish are aggressive no need to actually be on the bottom at Willard just cover lots of ground. I fish bottom bouncers off each side and the corners and cranks out on planer boards together. From mid May through June the fishing is fast and furious at Willard just keep moving and turning and you should get into them.

I spent quite a bit of time trying to snag my rod today, but no luck.
I did end up netting seven Walleye, I kept six and let the little guy swim away.
Four of the ones I kept are those 15-16” fish, one 20” and one 21” so I can’t complain.
All very thick but empty bellies, except the mud worms.
Caught maybe 10 or 11 Smallies, strangely not a single Cat.
All fish on bb’ers with chart/orange blade.
Smallies on Ned’s of course.
No Perch.
