VIDEO: http://vimeo.com/70734983

Tarpon, tripletail, sharks are in full swing and redfish and trout are good early morning. Water temps around 83. I took last week off to fish some with my father, son, and some visiting friends.

It has been windy and rainy on most of my days off, but on the few decent days out I have been seeing these monster black drum tailing in skinny water like a redfish.

Some of the fly guides have been targeting them as well as they can be located in areas out of the wind and make for some great sight fishing.

I finally caught one today and had a gator swim over and grab it by the side of my boat. It took off across the bayou and finally let go after a minute or so…I then trolled away, landed the fish and released it with a few scars on its tail.

I believe this is the biggest black drum I have ever landed and the -only- fish I have ever had to wrangle out of the mouth of alligator beside the boat while also attempting to video with my free hand. Good way to finish my week off from work!
