Deer Creek skunk

Hate getting skunked. Daughter has a lot going on at school so I won’t have a fishing buddy for likely most of the rest of January, too…so a skunk on our last big hurrah. Bleah!

We started out on the Provo at Charleston, not even a nibble. Did get checked by a couple of DWR officers. Lady officer was super, super nice. Gave us some advice on spots fish were being caught at DC.

So…I had the bright idea that maybe with the unseasonably warm weather the last few days, maybe some perch or something would come up to get warm in the bays by the Deer Creek Island Resort. Bright idea turned out to be not so bright. No bites, no fish. [:p]

So…we decided to hit the Provo above the reservoir. Lots of fly flingers, very few fish. One guy had caught a mtn whitefish, that was it. No luck for us either. No bites, no fish. [:p]

So…we hit the state park at the boat ramp. Several late-teen boys had caught 3 planter rainbows. I got one bite. No fish. (Saw several cruising back and forth, just planters though.) [:p]

So…we hit the Provo below the dam. Verrrry low water flows. Saw a couple of browns, who screamed and ran for cover the second they saw us. No bites. No fish. [:p]

So…we gave up.

Stinkin’ skunk!

By the way, there is very little ice at DC. There’s a skim of ice between the island and the shore, and a bit more by the dam, and that’s it.
