Deer Creek, Monday May 6

An friend of mine asked me if I would go fishing with him at Deer Creek last Monday. He needed some help in launching his boat and he just wanted to do some open water fishing for the first time this year. He likes to fish later than I like to fish, but he is a great friend, the company was terrific and the weather was beautiful. We arrived Deer Creek at about 10 am. The water was calm and it remained calm (unusual for Deer Creek) until about 4 pm. He likes to troll for the trout so we did. I caught one on Lucky Craft Pointer, another one on a Cabela’s jointed Shad, and two others on pop gear and a worm. He caught two on pop gear and a worm. That was it for the entire time we were on the water. The fishing was “tough.” The reservoir is extremely low and is getting lower all the time. He didn’t have a fish finder so we hit bottom many times with lures that I didn’t think would hit the bottom. We also got stuck in some rocks about thirty feet from the railroad tracks side of the reservoir. It took us about 20 minutes to get out of the rocks.
I believe that if I was in my tube that fishing might have been a little better. However, it might not have been.
However, I am always excited to fish and I enjoyed the experience as usual.

:sunglasses:Now you are starting to sound like a float tube fisherman…“I could have probably done better from my float tube.”

The only times I ever do badly are when I let someone talk me into fishing in their boat. Most boaters just wanna “wash lures” (troll), and when they really don’t know what they are doing…or don’t have good electronics…it becomes pretty much a boat ride with not much to show for it.

But, some things we gotta do…for love, friendship, finances or whatever. Fishing is something we don’t gotta do, but it sure makes everything else more endurable.

**The only times I ever do badly are when I let someone talk me into fishing in their boat. **

I must be one sweeet talker (LOL).[;)]

:sunglasses:Yes, you are sweet.

Just for the record, I did NOT say I ALWAYS do badly when I fish from a boat. I have had some enjoyable and successful trips with my boating fishing buddies…such as yourself.

The point I wanted to make was that my WORST fishing experiences…catching wise…have usually been while “enjoying” a boat ride.

kent, do you see someone out there pedaling their tube backwards?[:p]

Thanks again Pat, I Like my new look, Humpy
