Deer Creek: A Great Day

We couldn’t pass up such wonderful weather so decided to take a quick trip to Deer Creek. We were on the water by 7:30. First fish was on at 7:35. We didn’t even have all the poles in the water. Caught 7 fish in the first hour. All Rainbows. We were targeting the walleye, fishing deep and along the structure. Long story made short, no eyes and over thirty rainbows and one brown. It slowed down about noon, but the morning was really fast. Some were the small planters but quite a few were descent size. Some of the fish were hitting lures as big as they were. Great day and we brought a couple home for the smoker. The wind didn’t come up but the cold was there, glad I took my winter boots and some heat packets.

Wow, that looks cold, but it looks awfully pretty with the water nice and flat and the sun shining. Sounds like you guys had a great day. Do you know what the water temp is getting to be up there?

the temp was 47 degrees at the marina.
