I am off on vacation this week so I decided to run up to Deer Creek and see if I could find some Walleye that wanted to play. I arrived at 6:30 am to an absolute spectacular morning. I left the north marina and headed across the pond to the track side. I spent the next 2 hours trying jigs to crank baits but no takers. The one thing a did catch was an enormous amount of grass and other debris that was floating on the water. It seemed like it was at its worst from the island north. I found no fun in pulling that stuff off my line and down rigger cable so I decided that maybe I could entice some of the lakes FATBOWS. Right move right time,
I moved further south and found the water clear and fishable. Pulling either pop gear or a dodger with a worm harness or F-7 flatfish behind, I found the bows much more willing to cooperate, I fished for about an hour and a half, finding a number of them willing to take my offering. I even brought a couple home for a fish fry I am having tonight. Fish were caught in 12 to 25 feet of water trolling at 1.2 to 1.4 MPH
Even though I could not make it happen with the Walleye, it turned out to be a great trip. To quote a phrase “I,ll be back”.
I also was at the dc for walleye i found them up in the flats on the south east side I had no luck at the normal spots hope this helps
Thanks. I am planning on going up Thursday again.
