Deer Creek - 3/29

Headed to the Dam and used the Deer Creek trail to walk down the shoreline. It took quite a while to see any action! I started fishing at around 10 am and didn’t hook my first fish until 1:30…slow start for sure. I saw a few others catch fish but it seemed slow for everyone.

It wasn’t until I started fishing the steep dropoffs at round 8-11 feet down that I started to hook some fish. I was using a balanced Leech (essentially a jig) that I got all my fish on.

I ended up hooking 6 trout (4 rainbows and 2 browns) and one bass. Can’t wait to go back next weekend!

Well done! I need to get the pontoon boat out and do some catching! Thanks for sharing!

Because Fish Lake is so deep it is one of the last places that has safe ice. No way it is safe for foot traffic, let alone a four wheeler.

It’s almost Christmas.

Foot traffic usually second week of January.  ATV third or end of January. Depends if we get the real cold freeze.

someone should go check it this weekend. It has to be close…

i fished it new years one time, that was the earliest and the ice was probably 5"

I plan on being up that way this weekend

Relax. The fish will still be there. They can’t get out the edges freeze first.?

I like that statement and very true.

Thinking of going down to fish lake for a perch update anyone know the thickness of the ice? Is it thick enough for a four wheeler?
