I was wondering what the deal was with the largemouth in deer creek ? I’ve read a lot of post of the smallies in there so I went looking too hook up with some and I ended up landing a decent (for me) 2 1/2 pound LM. So my question is: is it worth the effort to go to deer creek targeting the largemouth?
There are some nice largemouths in there but they don’t do as well as the smallmouths do. If the water level would stay up in the weeds year round like a true lake they would do alot better. With the draw down every year leaving mostly rocky shoreline it is more of a smallmouth habitat.
When I go fishing there I just go bass fishing and have fun pulling in what ever wants to play. I have caught everything in the lake fishing this way. Mostly bass but walleye, perch, carp, and trout.
