When I look at that fish, I see hatchery rainbow through and through because of the dorsal fin. That fish is most likely not a wild fish at all. So, that eliminates the cuttbow thought.

I know cuttbows can be created in hatcheries, but really, how often do they occur in the wild?
In Utah, not very often. We have some hybridization in some streams, and I know Kolob Reservoir has some hybridization. But, most of our reservoirs don’t get any natural reproduction.
That’s a rainbow with a preference for New Zealand mudsnails. Dark colored rainbows have literally always had those snails in their stomach whenever I’ve seen them.
