I appreciate all the comments and support, there are a great bunch of diehard fisherman that tackle old big blue and I am just fortunate enough to be able to charter on the lake and fish with other fisherman frequently. Bear Lake is one of the premier cutthroat fisheries in the nation in my opinion, for sure the best in the state and I do not believe it can be compared with many others for cutthroat, especially those natives with little human interaction that grow to be true bruisers. Thanks to UDWR, IDF&G, Trout Unlimited and others!
I had a few people call me to tell me one of the recent cuts was posted here…I don’t get on here all that much, but it truly was quite an experience for our client that flew in from CA just to tackle big blue and try for a Bear Lake Slam(all the indigenous species) he came oh so close, but we couldn’t get him the Bonneville Whitefish or the Sculpin. He was a heck of a guy and a great fisherman! He also landed a very nice laker that day, but a 30" cutthroat is truly special and is the Crown Jewel of the state of Utah IMO. What made it all the more sweeter was this fish was tagged and we get to help out research conducted by UDWR on these awesome fish..(please turn your tag numbers in)
Sorry if the picture and the news that we had tied a C&R state record was offensive to you newB, we aren’t about ego inflation and don’t really post much except to our facebook page to keep our clients and supporters up to date. The record comment was simply to show how rare this fish was, pictures alone do not tell the “tale” of a fish…pictures you see, are not good examples of size, and can be manipulated…yeah you can see a big fish compared to a small fish but not that I could care less one way or the other, what someone does is not business of mine. I could show you many examples…but I will refrain as I would hate to make you think I was inflating my ego again. In fact we don’t come on here because we are plenty busy as it is, we for sure don’t need advertisement, and truthfully we don’t like to put pictures on a public forum…it’s just not us. To make it perfectly clear we didn’t say it to be the biggest ever, that in fact can not be said, ever…the only thing you could do is enter record books if you so choose. I find it interesting how you bring up ego, yet as I look over your few posts I have to giggle…we MOST DEFIANTLY don’t claim to be the 1st or best boat on the lake, the second best, or even the 20th best…it’s not a competition to me or my company, or for my clients, it’s about fishing and spending some time with other anglers, teaching them a thing or two about this awesome lake and fishing in general. That’s it…Congrats to your friend** “the second best”**, and the "best boat" on the lake and all the fish you keep mentioning, it sounds as though they have it dialed in along with many others up here…as you grow older and wiser you’ll realize that if it’s just simply about size or being the best, your missing on the true meaning of fishing I personally think. It should be the last thing on someone’s mind while enjoying this great land…fishing among friends, family and others who share your passion, teaching our youth, and having the ultimate respect for the chance to taste something as pure as fishing is what it’s about! A few years ago, I saw a kids eyes light up and it brought back memories to when I was that kid, or the 85 year old grandpa still smiling as big as could be, or being able to give back to some vet’s…that is what it’s about for our company…remembering the true passion. I’ll leave you with a few of my favorite pictures from last season, maybe a visual will help you understand newB…and not one of them have to do with a big fish…
Thanks again for the support, and I wish everyone the best of luck!
