Hello all, I’m debating about going to cutler Saturday night, has anyone been there lately? And if so how is it? The state report says it’s good but I’m always a week behind[:/]
Haven’t made it out myself in a couple weeks, but am hoping to make a run again soon. It’s been good for me this spring/summer - biggest Channels I’ve known.
Still wanting to search for Walleye - but did manage to target (intentionally) some bully carp (those are some strippers alright - of line I mean), then realized I was onto Crappie, so caught my first Bear-River crappies.
Kept waiting for the big bite-run, then changed tactics when I determined the tap-taps where Crappies playing with me, not Carp. Think if I downsize - it’ll help. They were aggressive for sure.
Guess it depends too - on where you go. Follow the flow! You going floating or bank-tangling?
bank tangling…good job on the crappies by the way! I have heard about hem being caught in abundance every now and then in Cutler but never saw it myself, I almost passed it off as an urban legend!
I haven’t been for about 10 days but it was really slow then so I’ve been hitting Willard and it has been pretty good to me. Oh and I live in Benson so Cutler would be much easier and cheaper but I like to catch fish when I go so I’ve been driving over the hill. But the water is way down at Cutler in those 10 days so likely the fishing will be picking up. I might get a chance to dip a line tonight if so I’ll let you know what I found.
Snuck off for an hour and half before dark tonight. Started on the river but the Mosquitos drove me away quick. I caught a carp and had lots of light nibbles I couldn’t hook. That usually means channel cats. Then I ran down to the Maria bridge and caught another carp and a couple mud buddies. Pretty fast action just nothing to brag about for variety of fish. I was just using a small hook and worms so I deserve what I caught. Skeeters came out at dark here at marina also. Good luck J
well I’m facing an entire school year without fishing so I better get my fill now regardless of what’s biting[;)] Thanks for the info!
You’re welcome and as long as you’re not looking for good eating fish it doesn’t matter anyway a carp fights as strong as most other fish and a lot better than a walleye. So have fun and good luck. J
