I can’t help but take pictures of fish like this. So what you think? The other pics are in the trophy room.

Looks like it was hit by a truck.
Looks like a bad case of fish scoliosis. It can obviously find food as it looks quite plump for being disabled.
Wow talk about being constupated!!! ![]()
Hatchery injury.
Fishrmn
It looks like an old football injury [;)]. I’ve heard alot about whirling disease in Utah, but that seems pretty extreme. I know it has something to do with the spine. I don’t mean to hijack your post but does someone have a pic of a trout with whirling disease?
Where did you catch that thing?
I think it zigged where it should have zagged! Thanks for sharing the pic!
I’m going to guess he dove 12 feet in a 9 foot deep hole!! seriously though thats probably the good ol whirling disease. The DWR says the fish are ok to eat but they sure look rough and make you question whether or not you want to try your luck.
Looks more like an injury than whirling disease to me.
Here are some pics of whirling disease fish.
Congratulations, you hooked a very realistic swim bait with built in swimming motion.
Just kidding… thats a pretty jacked up trout but it sure is pretty.
A couple years ago at FG 3M boated a Mack with the same condition..
loon, grebe something like that when it was younger or a hatchery injury.
I think its a hatchery problem. I caught one at strawberry ice fishing 2 years ago and a fish cop pulled up right after i brought it up. He told me it Prob happened when it was an egg in the hatchery.
TROPPICAL FISH HAVE THIS ALOT BUT THATS CAULSED BY OVER CROWDING IN THE MOTHERS MOUTH. TROUT ARE DROPED. SO I WOULD GUESS IN THE HATCHERY HE SLAMMED INTO THE GLASS LIKE BIRDS ON THE WINDEX ADDS.
KB is right, it’s scoliosis. It’s a common affliction in hatchery rainbows. I believe it is due to inbreeding.
Redneck rainbows…marrying their cousins. Is there the sound of Dueling Banjos in the backgroud at the hatcheries?
It looks like wherling desiese but its healthy looking. Maybe it is scoliosis, Ive never seen that before but like posted above it does happen in african cichlids because the female keeps the fry in her mouth when a predator comes near and such. Cool pic thought, thanks for sharing.
Matt
You havn’t seen my cousin. ![]()
Ya this fish has some serious problems but seems to be doing great. It was caught in Kolob so I doubt it will ever reach the infamous 18" keeper.
Ed, I can see the family resemblance![;)]
