how are those kamloop bows in the winter? I fished it last fall with a flyrod and hooked into some fish I thought would go easy 22" and ended up being 17", one of the hardest fighting fish I’ve ever caught! I can’t imagine what a 22" would do on an ice rod, hope your drag is set right
It more of a problem with clearance than a need now of four wheel drive. I would expect somebody would let you hitch a ride in. Being a weekend there with be a number of people coming and going. The fight is well worth the drive. 24.5 is by best and it was intense. I do fish with four foot ugly sticks, so that helps.

That would be crazy on an ICE pole. My best was 26" on a fly rod…Unbelievable.

So how was it? Ice conditions?
I fished it yesterday, saturday, with my father in law. Ice is good. Solid 4 to 5 inches of clear blue ice. In the morning there wasn’t any slush but as it warmed up there was about 3 inches of slush in most places. Even saw a few guys with snow machines out there which surprised me a little bit but they didn’t have any problems. As for the fishing, it was good. I’ll post a report with photos later when I get them uploaded.

Took my father in law to Chesterfield and we had a great first trip out of the season. Ice was a good 4 to 5 inches with some slush when it warmed up. We iced 30 between the two of us ranging from 12 to 22 inches. We caught 6 fish over 20 inches and they were fat and healthy, good fighters. We fished in anywhere from 5 to 20 feet of water with most of the action in the shallows at first then moving out to the 10-12 feet area later in the afternoon. Small jigs with a bit of night crawler worked the best. We used meal worms but the crawler was much more successful for some reason. 80% of the fish we caught dead sticking but we did catch some jigging as well. Attached a few short videos. My son and I fished on the Eastside from 2:30-5:30 only iced six, but they were all good size. Lost a fish I would have loved to have seen. Wished i had been there for the early morning bite, but still had a good time.

Chesterfield has always been an early bite for me. In fact I can’t remember ever staying for the evening bite because it gets so slow at mid day.

Fished saturday! iced about 35 fish between 3 of us, fishing was good in the morning, died by about 2. ice was good in the morning, slush by afternoon. Had a friend fish today said fishin was a little slow, ice conditions are going bad quick with the warmer weather. Be Careful if ya go!!!
Sounds like you had a blast! I am planning on going up in the next couple days. I was wondering how the roads to Chesterfield are? The ice has to be thinning out a little with these dang warm days

The ice is going fast, Sunday morning was 31 degrees when we pulled up. 3"- 4" of slush and water on top of only 3" of ice!! 39 degrees when we left! If it was that warm again today, with little to no freezing last night bad news. I took my two little boys wet feet standing in water all day! I would wait until colder weather, I hate wading through slush/water to ice fish.
Yeah, I kind of knew I was not going for 1st place on this trip. Was helping my son with some merit badge items, but still enjoed my time. I hope to make it there early over the break f it starts to freeze up again; listening to the weather I would not risk crossing it like I did on Saturday.
