Originally I thought i’d be heading to the river, but now it looks like it’s turning into an ocean trip. I made a few calls and the forecast hasn’t changed, but from who i’ve talked to, it shouldn’t be too bad with in 3 or 4 miles out. Hopefully I won’t get stuck in the inlet, but if I do, no biggie. I can alway anchor off on the S. side of the jetties.
I’d really like to get to the reef and it not be rough. I know the sheephead and seabass are on the bite. And i’m sure I can snag a couple big sharks while i’m there. I’ll take note of the water temp on my sonar so everyone will have an accurate water temp from the reef.
I’ll make sure and post a report!
hope you still aint ancored out on the jetti…
I am no ocean expert, but I do know in spring stroms have a habbit of poppin up unexspected like.
how did you fair? any thing worth bragging about?
any thing not worth bragging about?
LOL, no, i’m not still anchored up on the water.
It was actually calm the first part of the day. I posted a detailed report a while ago. It did get a little rough on us once the wind changed later that afternoon. I had a heck of a time getting the boat anchored over the reef, and I got tired of trying and decided to head to the house for a hot shower and a shot of aloe on the sun burn. [;)]
We did have a pretty good day. I know the guys on this board have been waiting for a first hand fishing report for quite sometime, I was glad to be able to give them one. We did catch quite a few nice fish, I hope to fire up the hot oil this weekend and fill up the ol’ belly with the days catch. I’m going to make a smorgus board of fish: seabass, sheepshead and i’ll fry up some catfish from last season. I’ll pan fry the bass and sheephead, and beer batter deep fry the kitty fish. Toss in a few hushpuppies and some home made cole slaw, and that makes for a nice little meal. Oh, I almost forgot the cold brew.
I figure if I get enough active SC members on the board, I might organize a big fish fry/ fishing trip on the river. It would be cool to get a bunch of people together for a day of fishing and some good food afterwards.
