My 6 year old is wanting to catch a catfish through the ice. We went to willard last weekend and managed to pull a good size one out of the hole but that is all we had all day. I was wondering if anyone knows of a better spot then willard marina to get some consistent cats through the ice. thanks guys.
Willard’s a good bet, if you can find 'em. Utah Lake has had reports of kitties through the ice. I know Tubedude had some shots of iced cats.
Probably some carp strips, minnows, worms, shrimp - most likely on the bottom I’d think. Bet the bite would be more timid, as most ‘ice-bites’ seem to be.
I’d thought to try with a spinner, or some sort of flash attractor above the bait.
Its not ice fishing,well maybe it is as cold as it is but there is some cat action below the locks at the bear river refuge

I would think finding them is the hard part. If you can find them, you can probably catch them. TD’s report from last year was a trip he took out on UL with Waljustia. They were fishing around a spot Waljustia had located during open water. The water was several degrees warmer (and deeper) thanks to a hot spring. So yes, you can catch them…if you can find them.
We catch good #'s of Cats and big ones up to 15lbs+ up here in Wyoming.
