Without hesitation, I can tell you that this is one of the greatest catches of my career. Never has this happened to me before, and I doubt it will ever happen again.
All in all, a good day… until the wind kicked up. I’ve never been in wind like that, and it actually blew me across the lake. Even w/ my motor going on high I was still losing ground. Spent seven hours fighting to get back, most of which was walking the 'toon along the bank to get to my truck.
WOW, a blue reel, darn I have never caught one, but it is on my bucket list. Was that a koke, sorry I thought it was bait. Good job did the Black rod fight much, might have to change the line before you fish it…[;)]
Nice work. Looks like you scored well…on fishies too.
I bounce jigs on the bottom a lot so I have dredged up a grundle of lost rods over the years. But I have never recovered any that were “top end”. You hear reports of guys losing high dollar rods and reels but most of what I bring up would have been better left on the bottom…except for the ecology thing.
Here’s a pic of a red reel outfit I got a year ago on Willard. Now if one of us can bring in one with a white reel we can have a patriotic collection…red, white and blue. Let’s see if we can make it by the 4th of July.
The rainbow are sterile. The tribs to Strawberry have plenty of those 1-2 inch kokes in late spring after they spawn in the fall. They do make their way back to the reservoir. My first salmon ever was that size .
Just teasing, but it looked like you had good equipment not that you can’t find good stuff at Walmart. I got a nice Garcia reel there. Anyway thank you for the invite to UL but I am fairly limited on fishing time and have more plans than time this summer so I’ll have to decline but I appreciate the offer. thanks J
