**Wanted: People with boats to take handicapped kids and their parents fishing at Strawberry Reservoir on saturday Aug 13th out of Soldier Creek Marina. This event starts around 7am(breakfest) and runs until about 1:30-2:00pm(lunch and awards ceremony).
Fishing times runs from about 8:30am to 11:30am. Most kids just enjoy riding around in a boat, I’ve participated in this for four years and this is the highlight of my fishing season.
All fishing gear ie rods/reels, bait, tackle boxes, and lifejackets will be provided for the kids. So don’t worry about gear.
Boats are needed. Every year more and more kids come out and get to experience Heaven(my name for Strawberry) . Everyone hasa great time and they feed us well.
For information, contact Pat Tease at, ptease@uc.usbr.gov or call 801-524-3736 or 801-263-2793.
I will be up there with my 9 year old son who has Downs syndrome. Fishing is one of his favorite activities. I don’t have a boat but I would be happy to help any other kids there fish.
**Craig, just show up. They need all kinds of volunteers. Alot of these kids need serious supervision, so its good to have more than one fishermen on the boatwith the kids and family. There will be the large poontoon barges, bass boats, lunds, trolling outfitts, and other kinds of boats. Some kids will be wheel chair bound , some won’t be able to even talk-come and get your heartbroken over and over again.
The people in charge are at the information at the top of the page. Most of the folks running the show belong to the Dept of Reclamation.

I hate to dip out on this as I love doing things for folks. I have a birthday in the family which I spaced. It tends to get higher priority. Good luck and I hope you get more volunteers.
