Carters Lake Report

The lake is 2ft below full pool and the water temp is 68 degrees
STRIPERS:Whoopeee!!! Fall is finaly here. The first major front of the
year rolled in last week and the turnover has began.
The migration of the bait fish into the Coosawatee river and the major
creeks has also began and the stripers will follow. look for the big
pods of bait from the mouths of the river and creeks to half way up.
surface feeding activity is beginning to pick up and will increase as
the water cools and the fish move further up the tributaries.
the live baits such as shad, shiners and trout are catching the most
fish right now fished on flat lines with a balloon 80 to 100 ft behind the boat. the bite should improve on the top waters such as redfins,Zara spooks and chugbugs as we get into next week,so keep one of these baits tied on and keep your eyes open for fish breaking on the surface.

SPOTTED BASS: The bite is picking up for the spots as well, they are
moving up and starting to feed up on shad for the winter. look for brush
or blow downs in any of the major creeks and fish them with finesse
worms and the jig and pig the best colors for me have been the zoom baby
bass and the green pumpkin.
jerkbaits such as the pearl zoom fluke and silver raplala will also
catch some good fish early or late in the day.
