braving the cold and camping for one last fishing trip to yuba. Does anyone know if there are any other species in Yuba besides Northern Pike, Walleye, and perch?
Is there any Cats or anything else?
The board that lists the species as you drive to the boat ramp lists pike, rainbows, perch, 'eyes, and cats. I don’t know if its bullheads or channels, I didn’t look very hard last time I was there.
Carp. There are more carp than possibly anywhere but Utah Lake.
Thanks for all the info! I did see trout on there and channel cats but I think it also stated the cats are pretty much extinct in Yuba.
Carp will probably be good to get a few for bait at UL next year.

Although we caught a 4 lb rainbow there last week they are extremely rare or at least we’ve only caught one in 2 years of serious fishing.
There was a guy throwing a casting net from the dock last sunday and it appeared he was catching a chub or two. I didn’t know they were in there, but it doesn’t suprise me. The majority of the biomass is carp, perch are second in numbers and northern pike and walleyes follow. I don’t believe there are many pike or walleye in Yuba but the biologist believe that there are substantial numbers but there is so much natural prey that they won’t bite a lure. I have never caught a walleye in Yuba. I average 3 trips for every pike we catch.
Last week-end a 27.5" walleye was caught. The weight, I believe, was around 7 lbs. The average pike we catch is over 12 pounds. It is very slow fishing but some days the bite is on and it is all worth it. I fished all day Sunday in a torrential downpour without a strike. I’m going back Thursday, I think. I am also planning a trip on Thursday. If you see a “classic” white and red boat boat say hi. I doubt that there will be many of us on the water.

You can keep 10 perch. Between Jan 1 and April 30 you have to keep the first 10 you catch…no culling. That is because a lot of the perch come from deeper water and suffer a distended air bladder…and cannot dive back to the bottom.
