What do you think, would it be wise to buy a rod you have never seen on the net, without feel its weight, its action, the guides finishing etc? There are many on-line tackle store that sells reels and lures which seems understandable however, do they actually sell rods?
How many of you did buy rods on the net?
I’ve bought a few, but I knew the make and quality before I ordered it.
I have ordered only a couple. I knew exactly what it was before ordering. It is usually better to go to your local tackle shop and feel a particular weight or action on a rod so you know what you are expecting when you order online.
Agreed ! I like to feel and inspect the rods prior to purchasing. That way I know exactly what I am getting and the condition that it is in.
I view rods kind of like shoes in that regard. I want to feel the “fit”.

Personally, I’m a big advocate for purchasing any and all rods in person. I feel that this process allows the purchasing party the oppertunity to iron out any uncertainties about the rod’s functions and operation as well as the chance to fully inspect the quality of the rod before dishing out the cash.
I have bought rods and combos from Bass Pro Shops and Cabelas and haven’t had and problems with them. I just bought a low ratio reel so that I could fish a bait called wobblehead. It moves thru the water with the motion like a snake. Fished around the cypress trees here and the bass attack them. I use this bait mostly hot summertime. I use the red w/ Creme natural worm. Can’t beat it.
I think tubeN2 hit it right on. If you want to look for a deal online, first go to your local shop and get and idea of the rod that you want to buy…down to the model number. Then go online and search google for the rod model number and see if you can find it for a few bucks cheaper than the local tackle store.
Shipping on a 1-piece rod is usually a little more expensive due to the oversized packaging required for a 6’ or 7’ rod. Two piece rods can be shipped much more economically. So, be sure that you figure in the shipping charge when comparing against the local tackle store price.

I end up having to pick up my 9’ single piece rods in person from a local guy just becuase he had a hard enough time getting it shipped to him.
On the other hand I don’t worry much about the shipping because my sponsors pay for that when they send me stuff.
