burbot at the gorge?

headed to the gorge on friday and saturday. i’ll be after the big macs most of the day. but was wanting to possibly target burbot at night. ive fished them at night through the ice. dont really know how to get at them in the summer. havent seen any posts related either. any info would be greatlyh appreiated.

Thanks Johnboy

Use the same method as ice fishing, rocky shore line, glow jigs, sucker or chub meat right on the bottom or a little above. The only difference is depth, you might have to fish for them a little deeper. If you are still in doubt, PM Fishly or make a post about it on the Wyoming board. Good luck and let us know how you do.

thanks wiper hunter!! i was on fishly first guided trip he did last winter. he defintly knows the gorge more than most!!

As you know he lives up in that area, near the Gorge, so you might be able to see him there, if he isn’t too busy. It’s always nice to know someone that has done a lot of burbot catching even in the summer months.

If you have a map or a fish finder look for really deep water with a shelf leading into say 40-50’ of water. Fish at the break.

If you don’t get bit within 5-10 mins pack up and try somewhere else.

2-3 worms works just as good or better than chubs I’ve discovered… they feel the worms moving around. Good deadstick option.

Good luck.
