Do rainbows and brown trout even cross breed or whatever you want to call it.
I caught one up at the gorge last weekend and it was a brown but it had a pretty dominant line of a bow.

(There’s a pic of it but you can’t really see how strong the line is)
interesting fish. definitely at least part rainbow… if anything i’d say it has some cutt in it, although it’s difficult to tell from that pic.
That is a 100% rainbow trout. The only browns and bows that mix are the ones that they mixed in hatcheries 10 years ago that eventually developed cataracts and went blind. The stopped making them. They won’t hybridize in nature. But a pretty fish.
I agree, I would say it was a rainbow also, not a brown. Cutts will also have markings like those but that is a bow IMO.
I have caught a few bows like that out of the Green River just below the Gorge. I call them “Wild Rainbows”
This one is kinda cool looking.

I would say that is either 100% rainbow, or sometimes a rainbow/Cut throat hybrid will look like that. Bows and Browns spawn at different times of the year so they won’t mix in nature.
No doubt a rainbow. You see a lot of that coloring in river rainbows..
that is what’s known as a leopard rainbow i think that they are actually a distinct sub-species but i am not 100% certain on that
Totally Rainbow trout!!![sly]
100 % bowski! !! The weeb is chuck full of naturals like that one[;)]
Its a rainbow. The reason its darker is because its participating in the “false spawn” that is going on up there. Bows have pink fins, browns have brown fins.
