About 3yrs ago, having a 3-car garage allows me to park my boat in the single wide garage year-round. I’m able to deploy my full enclosure Bimini 10’ high ceiling during winter so I can work some things out inside the boat at times. I went to pull boat out of garage, before I could get halfway out, I realized I didn’t lay down the enclosure like I usually do. I completely destroyed the garage door opener leaving it in pieces scattered in the boat, the long opener rail bent, a Bimini crossmember slightly recurved (able to repair that) and leaving a small tear in top of Bimini (also repaired). No damage to garage door. I tied a string to my foot draping it over the shoulder tugging it up & down kicking self in the arse.
Doohhh!~ as Homer Simpson would say.
Wow, that’s a bummer, hope it doesn’t cost too much to get it all fixed
Yep, that cost me.
I haven’t replaced it yet. The plan is to move the other opener over from the double-side garage to over the boat and replacing the move over with an upgrade. The issue is I’ve become uncomfortable about climbing a ladder. I have received orders from mama to stay off of the ladder. As long as I can manually open that garage door, getting the boat out is easy.
Roger - Dude - bummer. It’s very tough and expensive getting older. Maybe knowing you aren’t the first ever to suffer bone-headedness will help; or not. ![]()
This is my first post under the ‘new’ format. It is definitely going to take some adjustments. I haven’t seen a way to display a ‘Signature’ line yet.
Rodger, that sucks. I got a new to me boat about a year ago and have left the plug out of it 4 or 5 times so far. I had my old boat for over 20 years and I can only remember leaving the plug out it one time? Anyway I am learning to double check everything I am doing so i dont make bone headed moves.
