A buddy of mine drove by the lake today and said (he text-messaged me) the ice was coming off, or at least pulling away from the edges. He said he thought about 15-20 feet from shore. Can anybody else confirm this? Is that enough ice off for the fishing to be good?
Oh yeah cast a tube onto the ice let it fall off alot of the time thell hit it on the drop ![]()
Barring any tanker overturning in Daniels Canyon, I’ll confirm this tomorrow.
Has anyone been able to confirm this yet? If so, I may have to change my plans for tomorrow! [;)]
This is the same report that I just got at Angler’s Den in Riverdale. Employee told me he has a friend that lives in Fruitland and works in Heber so drives by berry daily. He had spoken to his friend a few hours earlier.
Catch and release is the only way to keep the sport going.
I just got a call from Tunahooker at 3 PM today. He’s up at Scofield now, and its iced off, so Strawberry might be icing off too. HTH, Fred K.
Fished the edges by the marina yesterday. The ice was melting fast. Casting onto the ice was a little chancey due to the ice being so soft that my weight or lure would punch through. Fishing was slow, I think it wasn’t quite deep enough at the edge of the ice but shold be good on Sat. Only landed one fish.Fished from 2pm till 8pm
Just got back from the Berry. The reports of how much ice is off were a little inflated. I’m not going to sit here and tell you that there isn’t anywhere to fish, but I have cancelled my trip I planned for tomorrow because it is limited. But, it is close…VERY close. One more day of nice weather and you will have more options, and I would think by Sunday you can probably fish most shorelines effectively. I know I’ll be heading up with my toon on Monday.
