I looked at the weather report and decided to go fishing for the first time this year. Since I love to fish for walleye I decided to try my luck at Utah Lake, hoping that I might find a few who wanted to play.
I couldn’t find anyone to go with me, so I decided to go by myself. In case the water might be extremely cold, I took my pontoon instead of my float tube–even though I enjoy fishing on a tube more than fishing on a pontoon. That was a good choice because the water was still quite cold.
I arrived at the lake at about 8:30 am. I fished all over the lake but didn’t find any walleye or catfish that would play. I fished in the deeper water (10 feet) and in the shallow water (2 feet), but I couldn’t get anything to hit my favorite lures. Finally, I hooked into a large carp that woke me up, and gave me some hope for some additional fishing action. I caught the carp in about three feet of water so I continued to fish in the shallower water. Finally I hooked into my first white bass in about two feet of water. It wasn’t very large, but it was a lot of fun after going so long without any fishing action. I continued to fish for the white bass, and began to catch them on a steady basis. They fish were not large, but I ended up catching fourteen in a relatively short period of time. The weather was beautiful and the fishing was fun.
Nice post LloydE !!! Way to venture out solo some of my best days ever have been spent with me an me alone [;)] looks like you ended up with enough whities for a fine fish scampi meal.. Did you happen to get the water temp while on your excursion ??
Nice work young man.
Now are you ready for some walleyes?
Nice report, Lloyd. Looks like a pleasant day on the old muddy pond. It’s good to see the white bass made things interesting for you.
I think it’s time to dust off my tube and get on out there to Lincoln… I’m thinking of going on friday afternoon/evening, weather permitting…
Nice catching Llyod, decent size White bass for spring time
Good on ya Lloyde, That mourning glass looked pretty smooth.
I think it was about 48 degrees now. It has evidently warmed up more than I originally thought.
I am definitely ready for some walleyes!!!
Looks like a really nice trip Lloyde. Nice pictures too!
