I would like some advice on the Bear River if anyone with some experience is willing. I have been trying to find a reliable catfish water up north for awhile. I never do well with the kitties at Willard and always end up heading down to Utah Lake when I want to catch cats.
After reading up on Bear River I thought I might have better luck up there. My wife and I found a spot just south of Corinne. We brought worms and hotdogs.
About an hour passed before I had a bite. My rod tip started bouncing and I soon found I had a 10 lb carp on. Reeled him in and now had some cut bait. I continued fishing worms on my pole and put some carp meat on my wife’s pole to find out which would get more action. Neither got any action for two hours. I tried hot dogs, the worms, and the cut bait indiviually, in combinations, in the current, in the calm water, under a bobber, sitting on the bottom. Every way I could think of. Just as we were getting ready to leave I caught a small channel cat on a worm under a bobber. That kept us around a little longer but with no results.
It seems that at UL I can thrown anything anywhere and the kitties come running. Any advice on how to pull catfish out of northern waters would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
