Bear Lake

Fished half day Monday and half day Tuesday, sonar showed quite a few fish on east side at 90 ft to 110 ft. Trolled lots of different things with downrigger, and tried jigging, I have decided that my sonor lies, and there is no fish in this lake. Several other boats out fishing, I don’t know how any of them did? Sure a good time to be out on the lake, only about a dozen trucks in the marina parking lot.

Also fished friday sunday and tuesday fishing was ok for me just with other fishermen had etiquette every day had someone pull up right next too me and start jigging or drop an anchor within 30 to 50 ft

I have never fished at Bear Lake. Were you catching Cutthroats or Lake Trout? Is now a good time to catch what ever you were targeting?

Didn’t have school today since it’s finals week so drove over the canyon to Bear Lake to see about the whitefish run. Fished from shore at 2nd Point with some white jig flies I tied the night before. Started at 0800 and left around 1000. Fishing slowed down so I went up to Cisco Beach without any luck and then down to 1st Point with no luck again. Went back to 2nd Point around 1100 and left the lake at 1230.

Ended up hooking a few and landing one (almost two). The fish were mostly out farther than casting range as some folks in a pontoon did pretty good about 100’ off shore. Cold morning but fun to try something new and catch a new species on the fly.

Thanks for the report, too bad the catching wasn’t better. Where there many shore anglers where you were fishing?

One other angler, he told me he’d gotten skunked.

Sounds like a tough bite that day but you never know, unless you try.
