Well… There is good news and bad news. The good news is that the ice is in great shape. 14 inches + with no signs of melting. Should be good for a while. I fished south of Gus Rich’s point straight out from the trailer park up on the hill. Tried 70 - 85 feet of water.
The bad news is - there are no fish in Bear Lake. I didn’t even get a bite. I didn’t see any fish caught, and when the conservation officer checked my license, he told me that he hadn’t talked to anyone all day that had caught a fish.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha… Sounds like the Bear Lake that your family has come to know and love. Big bro will enjoy the news. Sounds like you used up all your mojo earlier in the year. I guess your day on the lake beat the speed run to Rock Springs for us. 620 miles in 12 hours. Fun…fun…fun! Are you and the family coming North this weekend? I’ll bet the Sades is still rockin. Bring your gear if you do.
I would have to agree w/ your brother, ha ha ha.[;)] With that said though, I feel your pain, now I’m real glad I stayed local. Hyrum was more of the same. Lots of perch w/ an occasional small rainbow in-between, however one of the fellas I was w/ caught a nice 20-22" bow.
The DWR guy stopped by and said he was checking licenses that morning at porcupine and said the ice was still real good and had no trouble getting on it. He also said people were having good luck catching browns early in the AM, if your going to be around this Saturday?
Thanks for the invite, but we are headed to Idaho Falls for Easter. I will probably fish Palisades on Saturday with my brothers. I am sure that I will not hear the end of the bad fishing at Bear Lake.
