The cisco should be running in about 2 1/2 weeks. Wonder if anyone is planning on going. I’m going with my brother in law.
I saw an 11 and 7 lb cutts get pulled out during the run.
Hope to see everyone up there. The more, the merrier.
Is there a sign-up or do you just show up? What part of the lake do people go to?
I’m pretty limited on my experience there. I’ve been twice. Once on the south end, and I had to do a lot of walking north toward middle, and on the east end which is where I think we’ll go this year. I never netted any cisco but got them with a flashy spoon and used them as bait.
This year we’ll try to net them. So signups, not organized. I’ll keep everyone posted.
Find a map of Bear Lake (I’m pretty sure TubeDude has posted a good one in the past) and head for “Cisco Beach”
Here is some fun we had a few years back:

When you guys/gals get to Cisco Beach a few points to remember. The Utah State Park is promoting the cisco run commercially and will have a tent set up by the entrance station. You are more than welcome to go and celebrate with them. However, our unofficial-official “cisco disco” will occur near the south end of Cisco Beach under one of the picnic pavillions where we had it last year. This is the place to meet/greet and maybe get a bite to eat. Hope to see you there. There is no agency or group sponsoring us. We do this with our family and friends every year and gives us a chance to be regular people for a day.
The Cisco Disco sounds like a good time. Always fun to get out and meet new people and fellow anglers. Hopefully TD logs in and posts one of his maps or someone else does, I’m not real familiar with Bear Lake.
Here’s a couple
Sorry…couldn’t edit in the fish for ya.
I seen a party advertized on KSL.com , is that you guys? Any exact date yet?
Hey Scott, Like I said, If its on the 22nd, I will be there and will Kindly donate some $$ to you guys for all that you do that day. I have enjoyed it in the past and im sure it will be just as great again. See you soon.
Hi everyone! I’m new to posting on here but I’ve been watching this website for years. I live in garden city and can usually give pretty good info about the current fishing conditions and whereabouts (but bearlakefishguy is still the guru up here). For you guys that want to hit the cisco run and need a place to stay, I’ve recently taken over the lodge restaurant and motel and can definitely accommodate and help point you who are new to bear lake fishing in the right direction. I’ve fishedthis lake solid for the last 15 years and love every season , but winter is when I can almost count on kicking it’s butt, especially if it ices up( hopefully this year)!
I’m looking foreword to meeting some of you out here in the near future and sharing some fishing and hunting experiences.
welcome to the sight. Information on Bear Lake is always appreciated. I might have to look you up when I come up. I live in Salt Lake Area so I ususally stay overnight some place up there when I come up,
Hey Mike are you going to be delivering that delicious BBQ out on the ice if it freezes??? ![]()
Sounds great. Had seen an ad on KSL and then here also, but maybe it’s the “other” group.
Sounds like a fun time. Hope I can make it up for the “event”. Hope we’ll get some ice reports closer to the time - know what to expect.
So what kind of fishing gear is best? I seen the jigging, snagging - but what about the Macks, Cutts? Can you get them from shore too? Or do you need to be afloat for them?
Hey rebel, if someone wants BBQ bad enough, we may be able to work something out( like enough orders to make the drive around the lake worth it). Anyway any excuse to get out if the restaurant and out on the lake is excuse enough, I’m going stir crazy!! Maybe we can do a cisco special for anyone brave enough to be up here that early and in the cold!
