Friday, 06/12/09 - Sunday, 06/14/09 - This desert rat traveled to the San Francisco Bay Area for cool temps and saltwater fishing. What a great time we had drifting live anchovies for stout saltwater stripers, and trolling for the best tablefare of all…halibut! Pictures say it all:

Start each morning drifting for stripers, two per angler, 18" min. These fish hit hard and put up a great fight, 8-12lb. fish are typical.

Thanks, it has been great…cool temps, excellent fishing, good company. Can’t wait until Wednesday when we do it again!

I hear ya! Sometimes I wonder why I live it the desert. It is going to be tough returning to Lake Mead and the hot temps and small stripers. [crazy]

*I’m towing my boat to the coast Friday night, fishing destination Santa Barbara channel, freezer filler rockfish trip. *

Awesome! Sounds like a great time. Lingcod is hard to beat in my book.
Rockfish opened on Monday, but with the good halibut bite we did not want to stop stuffing butts into the box. Ended up with seven Wednesday, four anglers on the boat, best about 12lbs.
Good luck on your trip. Look forward to the report!
