Put in near 58 Bridge for our first kayak tournament of the year. We all watched the forecast this week calling for windy conditions. It wasn't going to stop us from having it, but it definitely altered where we were going to fish. I started out at a creek mouth throwing a swimbait, but the wind wasn't having it. I kept getting pushed around and did more paddling than fishing. I headed into the creek and fished a long 6' flat next to the channel. No takers on the trap or spinnerbait. I headed further into the creek and hit some laydowns with the spinnerbait with only one bite. With only 2 hours left in the tournament, I headed back towards the creek mouth and drifted down a bank with chunk rock. That was the ticket. I caught 7 fish in about a 50 yard stretch. For our tournaments, we take a picture of the fish on a golden rule and "weigh in" our best 3 lengths since we don't have livewells. Only 2 of the fish measured, but it was good enough for first place. All fish caught in less than 6' of water along chunky shoreline using a 1/2 oz chrome/blue red eye shad. I was burning the trap about halfway back and then killed it, then burned it again. That seemed to be what they were wanting. Water temps started at 53* and got up to 56* when we weighed in at 12:30pm. Seemed the bite picked up as we were quitting and I left them biting. Great day to be out even with the wind. emoSmile
