Going to hyrum dam camping this weekend anyone have any reports on how they have done or any tips.. I have fished this pond before but it’s always been earlier in the year I am guessing same techniques…also I have never targeted perch there is there a better place to look for them and a good lure.. Any info will be appreciated thanks…
They had a bass tourny there last Sunday, from what I heard between 13 boats only 8 bass were landed.
Haven’t seen much for positive reports on Hyrum since ice-off. Lots of runoff still. Are you floating, or bank-tangling while you’re there?
I’m heading up that way this afternoon, but don’t think I’ll have time for a launch. I will be chattin with the rangers - so I’ll ask how folks’ve done. Time for a new park-pass.
I’ve found perch right off the bottom - jig tipped with worm. Light bites - pitch out towards the buoys out from the campground, or by the outlet. Found a few under the ice there this year, but I think there might be a couple left. [:/]
The trout should be pretty active - try trolling the S.shore or up by the inlet - out from the cliffs, but the water probably needs more warming for the bass to really get going. I did hear there were some hogs amongst those from the tourney, so if you know how/where to find em. . .

I went two weeks ago and got one trollling pop gear and a crawler. I also had two for sure misses. It appears the weather is calming down so maybe by Sunday after the pressure has been stabilized for several days they should start turning on.

So - the ranger’s said fishing hasn’t been great. They had that bass-tourney that didn’t show a lot of action. Seems the water is still quite cold (55) and still lots of runoff, and hence - turbidity.
I’d guess it’ll continue this way for a while yet. I know the Blacksmith and Logan rivers are still high and raging. Heard the 2nd dam picnic, lower camping area is pretty well submerged.
