Is there any good ice fishing lakes close to North Ogden.(Good- in like catching fish-lol)
Pineview and Willard at times from what I’ve heard
Really? willard? never of it doing good ice fishing. What kinda of fish are they catching at pineview where at?
WIllard has some ok fishing by the docks. I have has two friends who have “spots” there and they do ok every year. I think the “spot” is near the docks tho.
Pineview= Perch tons of them and easy to catch. All over. Deep 40-55’ deep. Glow with perch meat or eye, Wax worms…on the bottom. There are some good sized ones, but you have to move to find them. Take a walk and avoid the crowds and the big ones will be right under ya. We have yet to not get into em this way. Good Luck,
Shawn
k. Ill see if i can get my dad to take me
Pineview.
I have “not gotten into them” a couple times this year (mostly due to bad timing getting me into screwy weather) but most trips I caught at least a good handful of perch, sometimes a bunch, and my two best trips this year have been out there, where I got 8 or 10 nice ones (9 to12").
I have found small fish at depths from 15’ down on any rocky or gravely bottom, but if you find a small point or bay and fish deeper, you’ll find the bigger fish, even as deep as 65’ for me.
It’s legal to use perch meat or eyes in PV. I’ve done best with an attention getter (like a glowing jigging spoon, or a large glowing jig body) with a small bright or glowing jig/ice fly on a dropper about 3" below it. Drop the spoon til it hits bottom, then barely raise it up.
I hit Mantua a lot and have caught fish all but once in the 6 or 7 times times I’ve been there.
Pineview I took my daughter and we caught loads of perch–little guys but still fun with a 4yr old.
East Canyon is only 45 mins away and produced some nice bows so far for me. Definitly want to head back there and try Echo as well.
Causey-I’ve hit once for only an Hour and a half and caught some nice bows and 1 lil tiger trout. Heading back there tomorrow.
