I learned much about the habits of Pike after our trip. That knowledge is priceless. I am ready to go again. This time I will have the rod, reel, proper line, and the right “lure.”
hey llyod how are ya? you had fun looks like. walleyes been a litle differnt down there this past few??? i only caught 1 last trip. the pike are a blast thow. just like night fishing eyes hugh. how cool is that. what chuck showed you guys will work for walleyes tigers pike bass and trout. so remmember what he taught you. its the good stuff. ken
We missed you not being with us Ken. We had a blast. I won’t forget what I learned—neat stuff! Incidentally, I have been with Chuck every time he has caught a Pike. I am probably his good luck token. However, it wasn’t until this trip that I was able to understand where they gather during the daytime. Furthermore, I was not prepared for Pike fishing. I didn’t have the right rod, reel, line, and lure.
I was prepared for the walleye and was greatly disappointed that we didn’t get any. Plenty of perch took our offerings. In fact, there were times when we were catching them nonstop, but no walleye. I am not convinced that the walleye have made the come back a lot of people claim. I have caught eyes at Yuba during the good old days, and these are not those days.
Incidentally, did Chuck tell you about the Pike pictures? It was funny to me, but not to him!

There is also something I left out about the Yuba trip. Chuck is a master at throwing the right lure with the right gear into the right place. It is going to take me a lot of time to develop the skills he has. So while I have some hope to catch Pike at Yuba the next time I’m down there (because I will be better prepared to do so), I am also realistic about the skills Chuck has that I have yet to acquire. Every time I fish with him and you I learn something new.
