A very good friend of mine just returned from a walleye tourney at Salmon Dam in Idaho. They placed 7th overall even with motor trouble. The best part is what his wife/partner caught. On sunday she told him she had a snag on a bottom bouncer and he stopped the boat. The snag started moving away from the boat and began to come to the surface. When the fish broke water, he almost fell over! It was a 35 1/4" walleye!!! What a freaking huge fish! I think he said it went 17# or close to that. The biologists said had she caught it in pre-spawn or similar it would have beet the state record. He is going to get me the mem card in the next day or 2 and i will post the pics. BTW, they released the fish for all you “people”.[sly]
Here is the link to the records.
Would that be Salmon Falls Creek Reservoir near Rogerson ID and Jackpot NV or Salmon Dam by Bliss ID?
thats a jiant eye. that res is so awsome. i have fished it. huge foot ball rainbows and the walleye hall of fame at the litle store is awsome. about 15 huge eyes all state records at one time. up to like a 17 pounder. i gota go back there.[fishin] i forgot about that place! gambling casino,s are a short jaunt down the road.[;)]
Be nice if we all saw some Eyes come in with some size around here.
TubeBabe and I fished that place for a couple of days last fall. It is a fish factory. Seven species in one morning of fishing on the same lures. And all the fish grow to good sizes.
Only downer is that there is an advisory against eating the fish. Lots of mercury contamination. Thanks, gold miners.
BTW, they released the fish for all you “people”.[sly]
you crack me up!!!LOL!
P.S I WOULD HAVE ATE IT!!
Salmon Falls Creek Reservoir is a pretty cool and remote fish. Idaho Fish and Game uses it as a secondary stocking area to put fish that cant go into the primary place where they were to be stocked. Usually because of drought. The lake is a pretty good fish for sm bass, kokes, trout and big walleye. It is with in a 30 minute drive of several casinos in Jackpot so it makes a good trip if the weather being questionable. If your into casino anyway. Way nicer than a tent when the storms come through. The BLM camp ground isn’t bad either. Starting with a full tank of gas you can drive to Jarbidge NV one of the most remote places in the lower 48. Well worth the trip. Just tough to get stuff past those trout to catch walleye.
Ah the memories! I have not been there for over 14 years. I loved to go out there and fish and shoot coyotes. Wish i could go back. Roger should have the pic to me tonight i hope. It is a BEAST!
How old is the dam? It looks like it is about to collapse[;)]!!! Does it even have an outlet or does the water seep through the rocks to form waterfalls like in the picture? Either way it looks like a great place to fish, hope I can make it up there sometime.

Here it is! I made a correction in the original post. The fish weighed 13# not 17, but would still have beat the state record if it had been caught in the fall. She will have the catch and release record for ID though. Congrats to her on a lifetime fish.![]()
I attached the full size pic for anyone who wants to see it in more detail too.[;)]

Nice Toad
LH2,
That sure is a TOAD of a Walleye, too bad we dont have too many of those around our parts!!! Anyway, you mentioned that they released the fish, did they leave the camera in the truck and release it at the docks? Just curious I suppose since someone mentioned that eating fish outta there is not the safest!!! Toad, regardless if it was released or kept for the wall!!!

It was a live weigh in. The scales are right behind the person taking the pic. Out of the live well, pics and weight, back in the live well and ran out a half mile or so.[;)]
Shoot, prespawn or not that is a once in a lifetime fish. Congrats to her for catching it.
