I’ve heard the ballast dump theory from DWR people also.
I heard an alternate theory from a DWR person late last year I think is far more likely: The testing equipment was contaminated from a previous test and yielded a false positive.
Here’s hoping DC is off the naughty list by this time next year.

I thought I’d bump this back to the top for those of us who are anxiously awaiting open water.
Heading down to Powell on Thursday. Weather forecast is not the best bust when you’re still working sometimes you just go when you can go. Hopefully we’ll be able to find a few places to hide from the big W. Should’a been there last week when the weather was nice and warm but even under non-ideal conditions I still always enjoy my time down there.
YEP ! Did mine this past weekend. Ordered rearm kits for my auto inflating PFD’s. Renewed my fishing license. Pulled my main tackle box out of the boat shed, gonna start sorting and cleaning it out in the evenings after work this week. Maybe if the weather at least stays dry and above freezing this weekend I’ll get the boat out and do my pre season pressure wash inside and out at the local car wash. Then start getting everything put back in. Gas tank is empty and removed, battery is out sitting on some plywood with the float charger hooked up (since late Nov). All the ropes, tackle boxes, sonar, other various and sundry items that stay on the boat during the season are all out. So as I put them back in I check for wear. Once that’s all done, and everything re-stowed, will get the Tin Can out to WB south and float her off the trailer so I can check and maybe replace worn bunk carpet. This all becomes a bit more work each year, but work I look forward to all winter. [;)]
Went down to the Farmington Cabela’s yesterday. Just checking it out. Bought 3 new lures that look promising (maybe). Spoke with the sales person in the fishing dept. Not sure if he is a BFT member, but he had been out to WB yesterday morning bank tangling and caught a Cat or 2.

**Glad to see you are organized and proactive. But even with your relatively small craft you still gotta do ten times more prep work than I do with my tube. Yeah, yeah, I know. You can go further and faster. And I can’t tow a water skier.
I plan to hit Willard sometime next week.

**Hey, I have been codgerized for some time now. Just older and crustier each year.
The thing about the skier is a line I use when folks come up and make comments about my tricked out tube. I say “Yeah, it fishes purty good, but I cain’t tow a water skier.”
Hope I never need your towing services. I did need a tow once on Jordanelle…before I added a motor to my tube. Got caught downwind from my launch spot when a hellacious wind came up. Would you believe that a boat named “Mariah” tossed me a rope and pulled me to safety? (See pic)
On the flip side, I have helped tow powerless power craft back the dock a couple of times…when they wouldn’t start. Also got to tow in a guy’s canoe that the wind blew away when his knot came undone at the dock. Both times with no motor. Super codger legs at work.
Since I added my motor I often toss a rope to fellow tubers (without motors) and give them an assist when it is a long way back to the vehicles.
Heck, I’d even tow you if you broke down on the water. But with all your preparation I doubt you will need my services.

It was a loose nut for sure, but I really enjoyed that starvation trip.
