Hello fellow fishers. I took my wife, father in law, and daughter to DC for some memorial day fishing on Saturday morning with concerns of possible rain. Glad we went, since for about 3 hours the fishing was almost non-stop for hard-fighting, chunky bows. We motored to the north of the lake and almost as soon as we dropped lines we were getting hits. I've really found that the Macks Flashlites seem to be the magic, they act like pop gear but without near as much drag. We pulled standard Kokanee/trout gear like wedding rings, hoochies, tipped with a pink maggot etc. Didnt seem to matter color, they loved it all. Lost count somewhere around 30 fish but we could have easily hit 100 if we'd kept going. We had doubles and triples the entire time. The weather held and the sun even came out making it nice and warm, but women and elderly people often have small bladders so rather than make a walk up and back down the ramp and going back out, we opted to leave around noon, just as a lot of the power squadron were beginning to show up. My FIL is 80 and isnt going to have many more years of fishing so it was fun to keep him on so many fish, he had a
on his face the whole time. These rainbows are feisty little buggers, most of the time we heard a fish jumping way out behind the boat before we knew they were hooked. They seem to think they are rainbow tarpons for how they fight. I took way too many pics but here a few of the nicer fish we caught. With these DC fish you can see 2 distinct age classes, probably 2 year ago plants and last year plants as they are between 14-18 inch cookie cutters.
