beg to differ. Depends what you're after. Bass are more wary - certainly. But lots of panfish will actually school under a boat in the shade. I've loaded stringers of perch drop-shotting, ok so I did toss out a few feet from the boat, but also had gills and crappie - when sitting on top of weed beds - just a dip over the side, and it's on.

Swarming schools get into a frenzy. Though straight down dropshoting would work better in deeper water, or when fishing a ledge and a dropoff.
