Does any one have an opinion of using the dropshot with braided line? How does it compare to mono or fluorocarbon when using the dropshot rig? Do you get as much action out of it with the braided?

you shouldn't ever be fishing straight braid when finesse fishing. What I do is run 12lb braid and tip it with six feet or so of fluoro that I replace as needed. My braid on two reels is now four years old, I've never had it break off and it still has zero memory. I use a uni-to-uni knot to connect the main line to the leader and that also has never broken when tied correctly.

Fish or Die has it the right way IMO. Not sure I would use Nano either its more meant to be a great casting braid on spinning reels but for drop shot your not really casting a whole lot. Very expensive line to be drop shoting with, again IMO...

Maybe if you were drop shotting deep as hell you could use it because it has zero stretch. But even then I think you would still want to tip it with a few feet of fluoro.

The double uni is probably the preferred method, but I've always wondered if a small swivel wouldn't be better between the two for line twist. You don't have any issues with twist?

I don't think anyone drop shots more then I have or do when fishing..
I like Nano for most of my drop shoting and have not found I need a leader..
I cast a lot all day when fishing the drop shot (anyone that does not cast a lot is not drop shoting much) and don't get any twists with Nano line and no stretch but you need to tie the right knot..
Each year I have the people at Fish Tech pull the Nano off and turn it around for me and use it again..
But I do have a rod or two with mono on it still..

Bassrods, have you switched to the new green color Nanofil yet? Looks alot better to me. I loved the line when it first come out, I was just a little off-put by the white color. Gonna try the new dark green shortly!
You are using the Nano on spinning reels right?

It has no stretch you can feel everything. Sinks alot faster. And cast alot further. The price is worth it cause it last a long time and doesn't fray like braid. Also no back lash or twist in your reel. Just to name some advantages.[

I have not tried the green yet..I like you thought the white would put the fish off but have found that I get more fish with the Nano..
One thing I have learned about the braid is not to cut the line off at the end of the pole but to rap the braid around the handle of my needle nose and pull it till it brakes when snags happen..

I tie 8lb Power Pro to a small swivel, then use 6lb fluoro for my leader. You get great action with this setup. If I do tie braid to fluoro, I use the Canada knot. It's really easy and effective.
I think I really need to rig up one of my lighter spinning rods with Nano from the sound of it. I've been hearing so many good things, I think I'd better get some.

when drop shotting? no. Every once in a while I get lots of twist from a crank bait gone wrong but that's rare

Yes with mono or fluorocarbon you can get twists but not so much with braid and even less with Nano..
But the best way to get twist out is to let the line out the back of your boat and run at a good speed (about a mile) with no hook or lure on..
