As scouts we took several horseback trips up to the Pali
es lakes and always had a good time. Pack
dle is fun, even better if you can get up the road. We have a cabin/barn/family campground up past Tetonia.
We have also done several backpacking trips up to Green Lakes up North Leigh Canyon (access it from the Idaho side, but crosses into Wyoming so you need a license for there). It has lower, middle, and upper lakes, but the upper one is small and dang cold for skinny dipping. About 10 miles in but nice for a day hike or to camp.
