New to BFT.... - FishinB80 - 06-17-2012
I may be guilty of being a "Lurker" so I thought I would own up to it and start participating. I'm from rexburg and fish often in the surrounding area and love to read the reports from around here. I really love to hike to any mountain lakes anywhere within a 250 mile radius of me, especially like the ones I can hike to. If any of you know of any around me let me know please and I will try to return favors by posting reports.[

Your closest hiking lakes are going to mostly be in the park. Lots of good guides in many of those areas. I haven't hiked much of that area myself so I don't have any first hand information.
Love to hear about your adventures this summer, even if you leave the lake names off.

Welcome aboard. This forum is full of great people and excellent info. There are a couple lakes up by Pali
es. I haven't hiked to them yet, but I plan on it. A couple of my friends have and they say that they are about 5 and 10 miles in. They also say they are good fishing and a beautiful hike. Derick[signature]

es lakes are beautiful. The lower one is almost unfishable the upper one is a ton of fun for cuttys. Went to aldous lake this weekend with my wife ( aldous lake is near Kilgore) there were tons of planters in there chasing my lure but we had no luck. I know there is packdle lake near here and a few others but it's always fun to get the reward of these beautiful lakes after a little hike.[signature]

As scouts we took several horseback trips up to the Pali
es lakes and always had a good time. Packdle is fun, even better if you can get up the road. We have a cabin/barn/family campground up past Tetonia.We have also done several backpacking trips up to Green Lakes up North Leigh Canyon (access it from the Idaho side, but crosses into Wyoming so you need a license for there). It has lower, middle, and upper lakes, but the upper one is small and dang cold for skinny dipping. About 10 miles in but nice for a day hike or to camp.

I'm glad you have made it up to those lakes. It's pretty up in the hills around here for sure. I have heard a little about those green lakes but have never been up there. Is the fishing any good? Even if they are little it is worth the trip to me. I love to hike into the mnts. and fish. It's like hiking a rainbow and finding a pot of gold at the end of it! Thanks for the info.
