Yes we were trolling with just the lure. That smaller jointed rapala will dive 6 to 8ft. This is one of my favorite ways to fish in the fall and spring. Let's just say I'm kind of an old fart and have boated lots of big fish using this technique. J-9 was the size we were using. I've caught more big fish on the J-13. Really important to read your graph or finder and stay in that 8 to 15ft depth.Hope this helps. Here is a photo of what this young man caught at Lucerne in 12ft of water using a J-13 Black&Silver
